Coming together for a multimedia exhibition at the vault gallery, kyndra burton, erin hartley, and zaida Gerritsen present "tart: a contemporary study of the domestic woman", a sentiment to the importance of research, recognition, and the existence of the female body in contemporary cultural discourse. rooted in academic understandings of our place in visual language, this exhibition will challenge classical and present-day perceptions of the body, domestic space, and the female narrative, references of the past must be taken into account in order to confidently back the works we create and present in public and institutional settings. we are inserting ourselves in spaces that never "belonged" to us.
